2014 Summer Workshop CSC

The 2014 Summer Workshop of the Coastal Silviculture Committee was, once  again, a definite success. Held over two days, June 11 and 12, in beautiful Powell River, the workshop brought together 66 attendees representing multiple stakeholders in Coastal British Columbia: provincial government, licensees, forest contractors, researchers. Animated discussions took place at multiple stops in the TFL and the Community Forest.

Several issues relevant to cedar have been on the agenda: cedar management, variable retention, management for old-growth attributes, wildlife browsing and regeneration options. Participants assisted to a cedar bark stripping demo by our gracious hosts the Sliammon First Nation.

Many thanks to all presenters who shared their experience and wisdom, and many thanks to Blake Fougere and Russ Brewer for impeccably organizing the workshop.

Here is the album of the workshop. Enjoy!
